Thomas' Honey Lemon Tea

We have made variations of this tea for years, whenever sore throats and coughs show up. Thomas wanted to share this one with you since we've had quite a cough at our house lately and he's been drinking lots of it. The honey really helps to soothe raw throats and tame coughs. It's also a comforting hot drink at any time, whether you're coughing or not, and it can also be served chilled.

Main Ingredients

one lemon

2 tbsp honey (local unpasteurized is best)

2 cups hot water

2 tsps grated ginger (optional)

cinnamon stick (optional)

Preparation

1Juice the lemon, dividing juice equally between two mugs.

2Add 1 tbsp honey to each mug. Add ginger and cinnamon stick if using.

3Fill mugs with hot water, and stir well, adding more honey to taste if desired.

Additional Notes

Another variation we sometimes make is to brew a strong cup of peppermint tea, and add honey, ginger, and lemon to that.
