Main Ingredients

2 pounds ground grassfed beef

1 diced onion (about 1.5 cups)

1 diced bell pepper (about 1 cup)

28 oz. can diced organic tomatoes

15 oz. can organic tomato sauce

1 5 oz. can organic tomato paste

1 tablespoon cacao powder

1 tablespoon chili powder

1/2 tablespoon garlic salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup dry wine (merlot, cab, or malbec) or beef broth

black pepper to taste

optional garnishes such as green onions, avocado, salsa, organic corn chips

Preparation

1Brown ground beef in a large Dutch oven or other heavy-bottomed pot.

2Remove the beef with a slotted spoon and set aside, reserving the fat in the pot for the veggies. Toss in onions and peppers, sautéing for 5-10 minutes or until translucent.

3Pour in canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, paste, spices, and cooked ground beef. Stir everyone together, then add in the wine/broth. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cover for at least an hour, stirring on occasion.

4Serve with whatever garnishes rock your socks.
