Main Ingredients

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp flour

1/2 cup extra sharp cheddar, shredded by hand

1 cup bragg's nutritional yeast (purchase on sale via the link below! )

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tbsp onion powder

1 tbsp turmeric powder

2 cups almond milk

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp sea salt

1In a medium sized pot on medium heat, add oil and flour whisking until a light brown paste forms. (Too liquid, add more flour. Crumbly, add a bit more oil until a paste forms.)

2Season paste (roux) with onion and garlic powders and sea salt.

3Increasing heat to med/high, slowly whisk in a quarter cup of the almond milk dissolving the paste and making the milk thicker. Continue adding the almond milk at about a quarter cup at a time until all is added.

4Mix in nutmeg and turmeric.

5Once sauce begins to bubble and thicken, return to medium heat and mix in yeast until dissolved.

6Lastly, add in shredded cheese and mix in until completely melted and smooth. (Any flavor cheese can be substituted based on your taste. This sauce can also be made completely vegan by adding a plant based/nut cheese as well.)

Additional Notes

For a completely vegan and non-processed sauce, omit the cheese all together and add an additional cup of the nutritional yeast. **Purchase your Bragg's Nutritional Yeast here: Enjoy!
