Nuna's Lemon Cookies

Nuna's old home recipe for frosted lemon cookies. It's a Christmas family tradition to have lemon cookies on a platter at all times.

1 1/2 sticks butter/margarine

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 tsp lemon extract

3 cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tap baking soda

1 cup sour cream


2 egg whites

1 box confectioners sugar


1Preheat oven to 375. Mix together margarine (softened) and sugar.

2Once margarine and sugar are mixed begin to mix in eggs.

3Add lemon extract, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sour cream into the mixture and mix until blended well.

4Make small roundish balls and place apprx. 2 inches apart on a non-stick cookie tray.

5While cookies are in oven, beat together on low, the ingredients for the frosting.

6Take cookies out of oven when they are fluffy and white and before allowing them to cool completely apply the frosting generously and decorate with sprinkles as desired.
