A great marble cake recipe that ensures the same batter texture for both vanilla and chocolate!
Prep Time: 00:30
Cook Time: 00:45
4 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cup margarine
3 cups sugar
8 eggs 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup plain yogurt
1 additional cup of plain yogurt.
1/2 3 tbsp cocoa powder
3/4 cup plain yogurt
4 eggs 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 cup margarine
1/2 cup boiling water
1Start with making the vanilla cake mix.
2Whisk dry ingredients together and set aside.
3Combine margarine, sugar, eggs, vanilla and the first cup of yogurt together just enough.
4Add the second cup of yogurt and dry mix alternately with the creamed mixture.
6Whisk together cocoa, yogurt, eggs and vanilla until smooth and set aside.
7Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and margarine.
8Add half of the cocoa mixture to the dry mixture.
9Add boiling water and the remaining cocoa mixture and mix well.
10Scoop the vanilla and chocolate batter into the pans alternately. 2 parts vanilla to 1 part chocolate.
11Bake for 35-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Makes a ton of cake! It's not easy to reduce the amounts so I recommend just enjoy the cake that it makes. Whether it's a slab or multiple round cakes.
