Main Ingredients

dough:

1/2 tsp maple syrup

2 tsp yeast

3/4 cup warm water

1 1/2 tsp salt

2 cups unbleached all - purpose flour

2 tbsp olive oil

pesto:

1/2 cup walnuts

1/4 cup extra - virgin olive oil

1 cup basil, packed

1/4 cup nutritional yeast

1 Large garlic clove

1/4 cup water + more if needed

Preparation

1In a large bowl, proof the yeast by combining the maple syrup, yeast, and warm water. Be sure that the water isn't too hot otherwise you could kill the yeast. Let sit until slightly foamy.

2Add remaining dough ingredients and stir until a dough has formed.
