Easy Homemade Tomato Sauce
An easy, homemade tomato sauce simmered with simple ingredients, like canned tomatoes and basil! Make a big batch for delicious pastas, chicken bakes and veggie stews!

2 tomatoes, canned and diced, no salt
1/2 c bone broth
1/4 c olive oil
1 - 2 tsp garlic oil
1 tsp molasses
2 bay leaves
1 tsp coconut sugar
2 tsp nutritional yeast
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 c oregano, fresh, chopped
1/3 c basil, fresh, chopped
red chili flakes or cayenne
1Wash and chop fresh oregano and basil. Set aside.
2Pour first 5 ingredients into cast iron pan or saucepan and heat on medium-high.
3Stir in the bay leaves, sugar, nutritional yeast and salt and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes, uncovered, and stir every 5 minutes or so.
4Then stir in the fresh herbs and cook for another 5 minutes.
5Take off heat; juices should be reduced and sauce thickened.
6Top sauce on pastas or vegetable noodles, or add to chicken and bake.
7Store in the refrigerator up to 5 days or freeze.
