Main Ingredients

1/2 cup frozen banana slices

1/2 cup frozen chopped spinach

2 scoops of vanilla protein powder (if you use chocolate, just omit cocoa powder)

1 tablespoon dark cocoa powder

1 tablespoon of peanut or almond butter

1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

garnish with fresh berries, granola, coconut chips, or whatever suits your fancy

Preparation

1Place frozen ingredients into the blender.

2Add protein powder, cocoa powder, nut butter, and almond milk into blender.

3Blend until smooth and creamy. You may need to stop once to scrap down the sides with a spoonula. If smoothie appears too dry, feel free to add a few more splashes of almond milk.

4Pour into glass or bowl and garnish with whatever smoothie toppers float your boat.

Additional Notes

I bet using a chocolate almond or cashew milk in this smoothie would be delicious, too! If you have digestion issues, I recommend avoiding peanuts since they are more difficult to digest than almonds. These days, almond butter can be found at nearly any grocery store in just as many varieties as the classic peanut butter.
