You will often find these being served at street-food markets in the US, and are a popular favorite with many foodies. This recipe makes enough for 4 people.
Prep Time: 00:10
Cook Time: 00:05
4 sub rolls
1 lb . sliced pork shoulder
1 lb . thinly sliced ham
4 tablespoons of grainy mustard
8 slices of swiss cheese
8 dill pickles, sliced thin
1Slice the rolls open and remove a bit of the bread inside, making a small cavity for the filling.
2Spread both sides of the bread with mustard.
3Layer the pork, ham, Swiss cheese and pickles on the bottom side of the sub, and press the top firmly to close.
4If you have a panini press, place the sandwich on the press and sear closed for just a few minutes.
5If you don't have a panini press, place the sandwiches on an ungreased sheet pan.
6Use a heavy, cast iron skillet to weigh the sandwiches down and bake in the oven at 425 degrees for 5-10 minutes.
You can also add banana pepper rings to this sandwich for a tasty kick, too!
