Copy Cat (dairy Free) Trader Joes Autumnal Harvest Pasta Sauce
Trader Joes just tends to do a lot of things really well. Their Autumnal Harvest Pasta Sauce is definitely one of them, but I wanted to try and make a version of my own that was dairy free. Their sauce definitely has that cheesy flavor to it, but otherwise I felt like my version definitely held up to theirs! Give it a try and see what you think!
Prep Time: 00:10
Cook Time: 00:05
1 - 1/2 cups pumpkin puree
1 - 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 cup tomato puree
1/2 cup bone broth (or vegetable broth)
1 yellow onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/8th tsp ground nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste
1In a medium sauce-pan over medium high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onion and sage. Saute for 2-3 minutes or until onion is translucent.
2Add the garlic, cook for another 30 seconds. Add the pumpkin puree, crushed tomatoes, tomato puree, broth, nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
