Chocolate & Cherry Nut Pre Work Out Bars

My trainer suggested I focus on my carb consumption prior to my workout to maximize the calorie burn and muscle build. As an obedient student of course I complied. But being the true culinary health foodie I am, I decided to conjure up my own 'weapon' to use in my weight battle and workout victory.

Main Ingredients

3 cups rolled oats

2 servings pea protein powder, unsweetened

3 tbsp peanut butter powder

4 tbsp quinoa flakes (ground quinoa)

1/4 cup molasses

1/4 tsp sea salt

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 cup water

3/4 cup dried cherries

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 cup dark chocolate chips (at least 60% cacao)

Preparation

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Combine the first 8 ingredients thoroughly- batter should be thick and sticky.

3Hand fold-in nuts, chocolate chips, and cherries completely.

4Lay sticky dough in a non-stick pan patting dough to approximately 1/4 inch thick.

5Bake for 20-25 minutes until dough is firm and stiff.

6Let cool for 5 minutes. Cut into 12 bars.

7Enjoy 30 minutes prior to your workout!

Additional Notes

Keeping in mind with my blood health, I created a delicious, not too sweet, dense bar full of beneficial natural ingredients that are sure to battle the fat and burn the calories!
