Cantonese Pork Buns
Savoury buns with sweet an spicy shredded pork.
Prep Time: 01:30
Cook Time: 00:20
1 recipe of your favourite bun dough
2 pounds shredded cooked pork
2 cloves garlic-crushed
1 tsp ginger
1 tbsp peanut oil
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tbsp soya sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp chinese five spice
1 tsp salt
1Make your favourite bun recipe. I usually make mine in the bread machine. You will need to have the pork recipe ready to add to the buns before you shape them and they do their second rise.
2Preheat oven to 350F.
3Mix all ingredients except pork in a sauce pan. Bring to boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute.
4Add sauce to shredded pork. Allow to cool.
5Take your dough and stuff about 2 tbsp of pork inside. Roll into a ball and pinch the bottom. Place pinched side down on a greased sheet. Leaving room for buns to rise.
6Allow buns to rise for 1 hour.
7Bake for 30 minutes.
8Immediately after removing from oven brush with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desires.
9Serve with soup, noodles or take in your lunch the next day!
