This recipe is adapted from a Hormel copycat chili recipe that I found online several years ago.

1/2 - 1 lb browned hamburger (can be beef, lamb, caribou, or any meat really)
1 tb bacon grease
5 or 6 cups of broth (any type)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup flour (i use namaste gluten free flour)
8 oz can of tomato sauce or can of diced tomatoes including the liquid
4 tb chili powder
1 tb paprika
1 tb onion flakes
2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
2 cans of beans (i use kidney and pinto)
1 cup crushed fritos or corn tortilla chips
1Brown Hamburger in a large stock pot with bacon grease
2Whisk together broth, starch, flour, spices, and tomato sauce
3Add broth mixture to browned meat in the stock pot
4Add cans of beans and crushed chips
5Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer
6Simmer 30-45 minutes, stir well and scrape the bottom frequently.
7Serve with your favorite chili toppings, I prefer cheese and sour cream :)
This recipe is very flexible, you can add peppers, diced tomatoes, various types of meat and beans.
