Apple Walnut Puree
A simple puree of steamed apples made tastier with the nutty flavor of walnuts.

2 apples, peeled and cored
1/4 cup walnut halves or pieces
dash of cinnamon
1Place a steamer insert into a pot and fill with a few inches of water. Bring water to a boil.
2Add apples and walnuts and cover with a lid. Cook for 7 minutes or until apples are easily pierced with a fork.
3Allow apples so cool ever so slightly, before transferring them, along with the walnuts, to a food processor. Add cinnamon and 2 to 3 tablespoons of water from the pot. Puree until smooth.
4Allow to cool and then serve or refrigerate.
You could also divide the puree evenly into silicone baking cups and freeze on a sheet pan. Once frozen, pop the puree out of the baking cups and store them in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months.
