All-purpose Avocado Mayo

1 tbsp miso paste or shredded parmesan cheese; or 2 tsp capers
1 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar (or other vinegar)
1 tbsp vinegar-based hot sauce (cholula, frank's, home-made)
2 tbsp olive oil (or water if avoiding oils) or water
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 lemon, juiced or peeled and quartered if using a blender (optional)
1Slowly blend on low to medium until smooth. Add 1 tbsp of water at a time if having trouble blending (tamping down air bubbles as needed). Alternatively, the ingredients can just be mashed together roughly with a fork (with the exception of the capers, which should be minced with a knife).
